What it is

How biostimulators work at Annaré.

A biostimulator is not a filler. Rather than sitting under the skin to occupy space, it triggers a controlled healing response that prompts your own fibroblasts to lay down new collagen. The product itself is gradually metabolised; what remains is tissue you built.

That mechanism is why the timeline is different. There is little to see in the first weeks. Structure returns across the following three to six months, at a pace slow enough that it reads as looking rested rather than treated — which is precisely the point for patients who do not want a visible before and after.

Biostimulators are the tool the provider reaches for when the concern is volume loss and skin quality rather than lines. They are frequently planned alongside a neuromodulator, which handles movement, while the biostimulator handles the foundation underneath.

What is offered.

Products used

Distinct from HA fillers
  • SculptraA poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator that gradually rebuilds your own collagen for natural, long-lasting volume that improves over time. Usually planned as a series, with results that continue developing between sessions.
  • RadiesseA calcium hydroxylapatite filler that delivers immediate lift and structure while stimulating collagen production for lasting results. A good option when some visible change on the day matters alongside the longer-term build.

What to expect

From consultation to result.

Step 01

Planning the series

The provider assesses where structure has been lost and in what order it should be restored. Biostimulators are almost always planned as a course, so the full number of sessions and the cost are confirmed before the first one.

Step 02

Treatment sessions

Product is placed in the deeper layers with a needle or cannula. Sessions are spaced four to six weeks apart. Mild swelling or bruising is normal for a few days, and with Sculptra you may be asked to massage the area at home.

Step 03

Watching it build

Very little changes in the first month. Collagen accumulates across three to six months, and the result is reviewed at that point to decide whether the series is complete or a further session is worthwhile.

Questions

Sculptra & Radiesse Biostimulators — frequently asked.

How is a biostimulator different from filler?

Filler adds volume directly and works immediately. A biostimulator prompts your own body to build collagen, so it works slowly and the result is your own tissue rather than product. Filler is better when you want a defined change now; a biostimulator is better when you want structure restored gradually.

How long before I see results?

Expect little visible change for the first four to six weeks. Most patients notice a difference around the three-month mark, with the result continuing to build to around six months after the final session.

How many sessions will I need?

Typically two to three, spaced four to six weeks apart, though patients with more significant volume loss may benefit from more. The number is set at consultation once the areas are assessed.

How long does it last?

Once collagen has been built, results generally hold for twelve to twenty-four months. Many patients return for a single maintenance session each year rather than repeating the full series.

Will it look obvious?

It is one of the least obvious treatments available, precisely because the change arrives over months. Friends tend to notice that you look well rather than that you have had something done.

Can biostimulators be combined with other treatments?

Yes, and they often are. Biostimulators restore foundation, neuromodulators manage movement, and HA filler handles precise contour where a defined shape is needed. The provider will sequence them at consultation rather than doing everything at once.
