What it is

How neuromodulators work at Annaré.

Neuromodulators are purified proteins that temporarily quiet the signal between nerve and muscle. Where a muscle contracts less, the skin above it folds less — so the expression lines that deepen with every frown, squint, or brow raise soften over the following two weeks.

The difference between a natural result and a frozen one is almost entirely dosing and placement. At Annaré, treatment starts by watching your face move: which muscles are dominant, which are compensating, and how strong each one actually is. Units are then mapped to that pattern rather than to a standard template, so movement stays yours.

The provider will also tell you when a neuromodulator is not the right tool. Lines that are visible at rest are usually a volume or skin-quality problem, not a muscle one, and are better addressed with a biostimulator, filler, or resurfacing — often alongside tox rather than instead of it.

What is offered.

Products used

Chosen at consultation
  • BotoxTemporarily relaxes dynamic facial muscles to soften lines while preserving natural expression. The most widely studied option, and the default for most treatment areas.
  • DysportA fast-acting neuromodulator that spreads smoothly for balanced, natural-looking refinement. Often preferred for broader areas such as the forehead.
  • XeominA purified neurotoxin free of accessory proteins, for precise, subtle correction. A useful option for patients who want the shortest ingredient list.

What to expect

From consultation to result.

Step 01

Assessment and mapping

You are asked to move through a full range of expression while the provider maps muscle strength and asymmetry. Goals, medical history, and any prior treatment are reviewed before a single unit is planned.

Step 02

Treatment

A series of small injections with a fine needle, typically over 10 to 15 minutes. Most patients describe a brief pinch. No anaesthetic is usually required and you can return to your day straight after.

Step 03

Follow-up

Movement begins to soften at day three and settles by day fourteen. A two-week check confirms the result is even, and any refinement is made then rather than guessed at up front.

Questions

Botox, Dysport & Xeomin — frequently asked.

How long does Botox last?

Most patients see three to four months from a treatment. Duration varies with muscle strength, metabolism, dose, and area — the masseter often holds longer, while the lip flip is typically shorter. Consistent treatment over time tends to lengthen the interval between visits.

Will I look frozen?

Not unless that is what you ask for. Dosing is mapped to your own muscle strength so that overactive muscles are softened while the ones that carry your expression keep working. If you would rather start conservatively, treatment can be dosed lightly and topped up at your two-week check.

How many units will I need?

It depends on the area and on how strong those muscles are — there is no fixed number that fits everyone. The provider will give you a unit range and the cost that goes with it at your consultation, before anything is scheduled.

What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?

All three relax muscle in the same way and are dosed differently from one another. Dysport tends to spread a little more, which suits broader areas; Xeomin is a purified formulation without accessory proteins. The choice is made at consultation based on your area, history, and how you have responded before.

Is there any downtime?

None. You can return to work immediately. Avoid lying flat, heavy exercise, facials, and heat treatments such as saunas for the rest of the day, and expect any small injection marks to settle within a few hours.

Can I have Botox if I have never had any treatment before?

Yes, and starting conservatively is common. Preventive protocols use lower doses to stop lines from etching in before they become visible at rest, which is generally easier than correcting them later.
